Dr. Stephan Davis, the founder and principal of ILLUMINANT, is an accomplished healthcare executive and educator. His leadership experience spans hospitals, health systems, insurance companies and boards. In addition, he has served as an adjunct faculty member, teaching courses on healthcare leadership and management, policy and administration. He travels the nation providing talks and seminars on healthcare leadership and management as well as diversity and inclusion. He has also served as faculty for American College of Healthcare Executives chapter programs.
Dr. Davis currently serves as the statewide director of leadership development for the Georgia Nurses Association, working to advance leadership excellence for the state's more than 100,000 registered nurses and advanced practice nurses as well as nursing educators, researchers and executives. Additionally, he is an inaugural member of the leadership committee of the American College of Healthcare Executive's LGBT forum and also serves as the forum's newsletter editor. His prior work related to diversity and inclusion resulted in organizations achieving leadership designation in healthcare equality with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and publication in the Hastings Center's inaugural report on LGBT bioethics.
Dr. Davis is an alumnus of Yale University, where he completed a doctorate of nursing practice in executive leadership, management and policy. His doctoral scholarly project was to build an evidence-based succession planning tool for the chief nursing officer role within academic medical centers. He is currently completing a post-graduate fellowship in education in the health professions at Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a master's degree in health systems administration from Georgetown University and a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Davis is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the leading professional society for healthcare management. He is also board certified as an advanced nurse executive with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is certified in executive nursing practice with the American Organization of Nurse Executives. He previously served as a content expert and item writer for the advanced nurse executive specialty examination with ANCC and now teaches nurse executive board certification review for healthcare organizations across the nation. Additionally, he is a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) certified practitioner and holds a certificate in coaching from the Association for Talent Development. He holds additional national board certifications in healthcare quality, finance and education.
